Nashville's Belmont University was one of five schools singled out by Fortune magazine for fostering entrepreneurship. “Belmont is itself a case study in niche building: Its long-standing program in music and business is unique, and last year it became the first school to offer a major in social entrepreneurship,” Fortune notes on its Web site. Fortune also cited five student-run retail businesses on Belmont’s campus.

Certificates of Origin

Certificates of Origin for exports are often required by the customs authority of the destination country for the levying of appropriate tariffs. Those authorities usually require a certificate sealed by an "appropriate authority," which includes chambers of commerce.

The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's information services department will seal Certificates of Origin for products exported from the United States.

The Certificate of Origin must clearly specify the country of origin of the products concerned. This country need not necessarily be the United States. A false declaration on a certificate of origin can result in penalties, sometimes severe, levied by the authorities in the country of destination.

The walk-in service for Certificate of Origin sealing is available for both Chamber of Commerce members and future members at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce during normal business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, excluding holidays). Please see the information services department in the Chamber lobby.

Cost is $20 per page certified for Chamber members and $40 per page certified for future members. Payment may be made via cash, check or all major credit cards.
