Many Middle Tennessee businesses have expanded into overseas markets as part of their growth strategies. This recent
Nashville Business Journal article spotlights the growing importance and influence of our regional companies that are doing business internationally, such as Clarcor, Louisiana-Pacific and HealthStream.
As of the end of the third quarter of 2011, the U.S. Department of Commerce ranks Tennessee the nation's 14th-largest exporter. Through October 2011, Tennessee exports grew by 15 percent, as the state shipped $24.9 billion worth of products.
The Chamber recognizes that international trade will continue to be an important economic driver for our region and state. So what does it take to become a global company? The answer to this question can vary widely depending on factors such as the type of product, the demand and the country with which a company wants to establish ties. Because every company's needs are different, the Chamber is committed to providing quality educational opportunities for businesses that are already working on an international scale, or are looking to expand their reach beyond our nation's borders. Over the next several months, we are planning programming that features local companies growing their businesses through exports and international markets. Please check our
event calendar for more details about these events as they are announced.
