A highlight of the evening was a special video tribute produced by CMT on the Nashville flood and the role that businesses played -- and continue to play -- in recovery. The Chamber applauds CMT for its production of this video, which does a great job of capturing the spirit of the city and its people. Local leaders and businesses highlighted in the video are Chamber CEO Ralph Schulz, Mayor Karl Dean, Gaylord CEO Colin Reed, and Grayline of Middle Tennessee CEO Henry Hicks, a co-chair of the mayor’s
Business Response Team coordinated by the Nashville Chamber. Both Schulz and Dean spoke at the event, and the mayor introduced
American Idol finalist and country music recording star Danny Gokey as part of the evening’s entertainment for the audience of national leaders.
Thanks to all the businesses in Nashville and Middle Tennessee that continue to step up and aid in flood recovery. We know that the business community plays this important role throughout the nation when disaster strikes. We also thank Stephen Jordan and the U.S. Chamber’s Business Civic Leadership Center for their immediate connection with the Nashville Chamber after the flood, providing helpful disaster response information that helped accelerate the business community’s ability to recover.
