Nashville Is 'Nowville'

The word about Nashville's emerging food and fashion scenes continues to spread across the country, most recently in issues of the New York Times and GQ magazine.

Several standouts of Nashville's increasingly celebrated culinary scene got loving coverage in a New York Times article titled "Nashville’s Rising Stars: The Kitchen Is Their Studio." The article's primary focus is on East Nashville favorites such as Mas Tacos Por Favor and Margot Café, with nods also going to eateries in other parts of the city, such as Las Paletas, City House and the Catbird Seat.

In an eight-page spread titled "Nowville", GQ featured photos of some of our coolest residents, from model Karen Elson to Tennessee Titans Jason McCourty and Kenny Britt. In the accompanying text, GQ profiles "the new Nashville," including hotspots such as Patterson House, Imogene + Willie and Grimey's. According to the article, "[Nashville is] the most electric spot in the South, thanks to a cast of transplanted designers, architects, chefs, and rock 'n' rollers."

As someone who has called Nashville home all my life, it makes me smile to see the recent avalanche of savvy people telling our story nationwide. Economic development at its finest, if you ask me!
