Fleet One to expand workforce

March 17, 2010
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 17, 2010) – Fleet One, LLC, a fuel card and financial service provider supporting the transportation industry, announced plans today to expand operations in Middle Tennessee. The company currently employs 190 individuals in Nashville and plans to add 49 new positions.

Headquartered in Nashville, Fleet One provides fuel cards and fleet-related payment solutions to businesses and government agencies. Specifically, the company offers fuel and maintenance purchasing card controls, detailed reporting, online account management and other cost-saving services to its customers across the country. Fleet One is a division of Fleet One Holdings LLC, a portfolio company of LLR Partners and FTV Capital.

Thirty new account executive positions will represent the company’s Local and Over The Road fuel card programs. The additional 19 positions will be in the customer-care and financial services areas of the company.

Fleet One CEO and President Andy Roberts said it is especially gratifying to create jobs in this economic climate. “We are immensely proud of Fleet One’s continued growth in calendar year 2009, and are pleased to open these job opportunities in Nashville. As a company, Fleet One believes strongly in recruiting the best and brightest candidates and in giving back to our community. Our sales performance in 2009 makes both possible.”

The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Partnership 2010 team, along with Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Nashville Mayor’s Office and TVA economic development representatives, has been working with Fleet One during their expansion process.

“Fleet One’s decision to expand its operations here in Nashville is great news for the city,” Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said. “It is gratifying to see our local businesses succeed and recognize Nashville as the best place to build on their success."

“Announcements like this come only after many hours of hard work by partners at the county, city and state level,” said Matt Kisber, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. “It is through these types of partnerships that we are able to create higher-skilled, better-paying jobs for the people of Tennessee.”

Since a 2001 merger of Fleet One and TransPlatinum Service Corp., the company has grown its base of fleet customers by nearly 400 percent. A re-branding of company products, an expansion of services, and a focus on its merchant distribution network contributed to that growth. Fleet One’s employee base also grew by 68 percent.

“Fleet One’s current expansion represents great growth opportunities for the company and more jobs for Nashville-area residents,” said John Bradley, TVA’s senior vice president of economic development. “TVA is glad to be on the economic development team with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Nashville Mayor’s Office and State of Tennessee to support Fleet One as they expand and create additional jobs in Davidson County.”

Current Fleet One merchant partners include such regional and national companies as Chevron/Texaco, Circle K, Hess, Kroger, Love’s, Mapco, Murphy USA, Petro, Pilot, Sunoco, TA Travel Centers, and Valero.

“Every day, companies are making decisions about where to invest and grow their businesses,” said Judith Hill, director of existing business at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. “The Chamber is here to provide resources that will help them choose Nashville as their preferred business location.”

In order to bring the new employees on board as quickly as possible, the Chamber is providing Fleet One with the ability to post job openings on its online job board, where Fleet One is a featured employer. Job applicants can go to www.nashvillejobslink.com to apply.
