Nashville Area Chamber and the Entrepreneur Center Recognize Entrepreneurs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 13, 2012) – The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Entrepreneur Center have announced the finalists for the second annual NEXT Awards. These awards recognize the accomplishments of companies and individual entrepreneurs in five business categories vital to the Middle Tennessee economy: health care; technology; digital media and entertainment; sustainability and social enterprise; manufacturing and logistics. Individual awards for excellence will also be given for the following categories: entrepreneur of the year for each business category, young entrepreneur; entrepreneurial partner of the year; company of the year; legacy entrepreneur; and overall entrepreneur of the year.

The NEXT Awards replaced the Future 50 Awards, which were bestowed by the Nashville Area Chamber for 19 years. The partnership with the Entrepreneur Center extends the concept beyond spotlighting only emerging companies, which was the mission of the Future 50 Awards.

The NEXT Awards dinner and celebration will take place Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel. Three finalists and one winner will be recognized in each category.

“Our thriving entrepreneurial community has contributed significantly to the economic prosperity of Middle Tennessee,” said Chamber President & CEO Ralph Schulz. “We are proud to be able to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of these businesses and individuals.”

“From Nashville’s startups to market movers, the NEXT Awards celebrate our best business and job creators,” said Michael Burcham, president and CEO of the Entrepreneur Center. “When we celebrate the vibrancy of our entrepreneurial community, we encourage the growth of our economy.”

The 2012 NEXT Awards are presented by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and Nashville Entrepreneur Center, sponsored by Bank of America. Additional sponsors include Bandit Lites, KraftCPAs, Lipscomb University Center for Entrepreneurship and Tennessean Media Group. For more information, visit www.nextnashville.com.
