The partnership worked so well last time, Nashville is ready to do it all over again.
Mayor Karl Dean and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce rolled out Partnership 2020 last week, building on Partnership 2010, which launched 20 years ago as a blueprint for fostering jobs and economic development in the city.
Twenty years later, the results of that initiative are all around us: as many as 600 new companies and more than 200,000 jobs that are attributed to the partnership, a healthy boost in population, and an unemployment rate that is lower than the state’s and the nation’s despite the current recession.
