Headquartered in Ashland City, A.O. Smith both manufactures and markets residential and commercial water heaters and hydronic boilers. A.O. Smith offers contractors an additional competitive advantage in that the company designs, builds, distributes and field supports the world's broadest and deepest line of residential and commercial water heaters, as well as commercial boilers. This single-source concept simplifies ordering, installation and service. With impressive inventory control, they are able to maintain just a three-day supply.
The Bun Companies
Nashville, TN
The Bun Companies are made up of Tennessee Bun Company, Nashville Bun Company, Bun Lady Transport, Cold Storage of Nashville and CornerStone Baking Company. Established in 1997, The Bun Companies have grown to service customers such as McDonald's, Chili's and Pepperidge Farm. A team of more than 200 focuses on customer service and quality to provide the finest storage, baking and transportation around. In the summer of 2007, Bun Companies purchased and installed equipment from O'Charley's, making improvements in the equipment layout, to become the sole supplier of their signature yeast rolls.
The Crown Group
Portland, TN
Privately owned Crown Group was founded in 1965 and is headquartered in Warren, Michigan, with six plants located in Michigan, Indiana and Tennessee. Their Portland facility opened in 1989 and is a high-volume, diversified automotive electrocoat and powder coat supplier to major Tier One customers. Portland also offers value-added services including assembly, packaging and direct shipments to OEMs. Through an impressive lean implementation, customer complaints have dropped 95.4 percent.
FlexSol Packaging Corporation
Nashville, TN
FlexSol Packaging, headquartered in Pompano Beach, Florida, manufactures flexible packaging and value-added plastic films, including custom bags, shrink and hood films, as well as films used in food, medical, pharmaceutical and industrial applications. The Nashville plant is the largest facility focused on high-end, single and multi-layer performance films and has invested more than a million dollars in new equipment over the last two years. Through an aggressive recycling program, none of their polyethylene waste goes to a landfill.
General Motors - Spring Hill
Spring Hill, TN
The GM Spring Hill manufacturing facility is preparing to launch the newest crossover vehicle in the GM portfolio, the Chevrolet Traverse, due out in late 2008. GM Spring Hill Powertrain is currently producing the 2.4 liter four-cylinder Ecotec and 2.0 liter turbo engines. In 2007, they were rated best small engine plant in the world, even beating Toyota. World-class, advanced robotics are used extensively, and they are committed to an active patent program, including, for example, 25 patents on one segment of assembly.
Hendrickson USA
Clarksville, TN
Hendrickson, located in Clarksville, is a manufacturer of axles, suspensions, springs and exhaust, with the highest market share of any competitor at more than 50 percent. This was achieved due to outstanding quality and 99 percent on-time delivery, and not based on price. Production recently reached the highest number of parts produced per week, and they have worked to accomplish higher output with the same workforce through increased efficiency. They have developed a unique computer-controlled axle dual-sided welder, which is the only one in the industry.
Innovative Plastics South Corporation
Nashville, TN
Incorporated in 1985, Innovative Plastics is a vertically integrated company providing a global client base with complete CAD package design, tooling and plastic package manufacturing services. Some of the Antioch-based company's clients include Colgate Palmolive, Brother, Briggs & Stratton, Char Broil, Sunbeam-Oster, Duracell, Bristol Myers and Husqvarna. For a company of its type, Innovative Plastics maintains a tool room that is without peer. It has capabilities to manufacture both prototype and final production dies on a state-of-the-art CNC machining center.
ITW CIP - Tennessee
Gallatin, TN
ITW CIP, operating in Gallatin, is a manufacturer, warehouse and ship point for automotive fasteners. The core products consist of internally threaded body panel clips and push nuts. These products are used throughout the vehicle from bumpers to fender wells, instrument panels to under-hood applications. Their manufacturing process involves stamping, extruding, tapping and heat-treating parts, with a proven reputation for consistent, high-quality, defect-free parts delivery to the highly demanding automotive industry.
Lithographics
Nashville, TN
Nashville's Lithographics has grown from a single press operation in 1975 to one of the most technologically advanced printing operations in the country. Along with a high-tech prepress department, Lithographics now has an all-Heidelberg press room that boasts three new sheetfed presses after a 3.5-million-dollar investment in 2007. Not only environmentally conscious through the use of "green" inks and bulk, low-waste ink containers, Lithographics also has an aggressive recycling program that has virtually eliminated waste materials going into the landfill.
