Diverse industrial and farm products, coupled with the unparalleled entrepreneurial drive of Tennessee's international business community, keep Middle Tennessee on the leading edge of international business. From health care to industrial machinery, from automotive parts to music and entertainment, from whiskey to bibles, the mid-state's rich commercial and agricultural offerings are in demand throughout the world.

The Chamber's overriding goal in international business is to generate job growth and economic development in Middle Tennessee by expanding exports from regional companies. This goal is in line with the Chamber's strategic goal of fostering existing business expansion and entrepreneurial growth throughout the region. The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes international business as a major engine of economic growth in Middle Tennessee, and partners with other organizations to offer programs which:

  • Help companies enter export markets for the first time
  • Help exporting companies expand into new markets
  • Help companies with importing
  • Help the international business community connect with each other to network and learn
  • Showcase Nashville, the Nashville region and the state of Tennessee in international markets

    Importance of exporting

Tennessee's more than $19 billion worth of exports in 2005 ranks the state 16th in the nation by dollar volume and seventh for year-on-year export growth.

Tennessee's exports support a substantial number of jobs and underwrite economic growth throughout the state. Based on U.S. Department of Commerce metrics, state exports conservatively support around 150,000 jobs.
