Looking for cities with the hottest music scenes, The Atlantic used last week's South by Southwest music festival in Austin as a measuring stick, examining the hometowns of the 500 invited performers.
Music City ranked fifth, with nine invited musical acts (or six acts per million residents) on the official announced bands list.
