Nashville's Belmont University is one of five schools singled out by Fortune magazine for fostering entrepreneurship.
“Belmont is itself a case study in niche building: Its long-standing program in music and business is unique, and last year it became the first school to offer a major in social entrepreneurship,” Fortune notes on its Web site. Fortune also cited five student-run retail businesses on Belmont’s campus.
Belmont’s social entrepreneurship major “centers on the emerging business field that tackles social problems and unmet community needs via entrepreneurial principles,” according to a news release from the school.
