Q: Who is Ladybird Taco and what should we know about you?

Ladybird Taco is a local taco and coffee shop in the 12 South neighborhood. We serve breakfast and lunch tacos, salads, and coffee, rooted in Texas heritage.

Q: What is unique about your business that makes you stand out?

We’re focused on bringing a life-giving culture for our community. This starts with pairing our house-made tortilla breakfast tacos through our partnership with Nashville’s high-quality and relationally-sourced Crema coffee roasters.

Q: What’s your biggest goal for your company this year?

Our goal this year is to grow our catering business and offer new ways to serve our community.

Q: What best business practices did you learn in 2020 during the pandemic and what did you do to be creative?

We learned so much in 2020 being in the hospitality business. Primarily, we learned that people are still people who want to be seen and cared for and, even in a pandemic behind a mask, a smile or a kind word goes a long way. We had to be creative in so many ways around supply-chain shortages, staffing, and not opening up our restaurant for indoor dining for the first year. We’re most proud of figuring out how to operate without letting people inside but still create that life-giving experience.

Q: What’s your best piece of advice for other business owners?

Find the bright-spots in your business — people and processes — and highlight and try to replicate them, instead of focusing on all the things going wrong.

We don’t rise to the level of our intentions, we fall to the level of our systems. (James Clear)
