Nashville Region Leadership Visit to Fort Campbell

On Thursday, August 11, 23 business leaders, HR professionals and community partners participated in the Nashville Region Leadership Visit to Fort Campbell. The Leadership Visit, which is a joint effort by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Army’s Ft. Campbell Installation, was designed to get buy-in from employers in supporting and recruiting transitioning soldiers to stay in the Middle Tennessee region.

On the visit, employers were warmly received by Garrison Commander Col. Andrew Q. Jordan, witnessed demonstrations at both the EagleWerx Applied Tactical Innovation Center and the Allison Aquatic Survival Training Facility, participated in a firearm training simulation, and participated in an aerial tour. Many participants remarked that the most significant part of the visit was the opportunity to learn about and connect with Ft. Campbell’s Transition Assistance Program, as well as the opportunity to serve food to, and network with, soon-to-be transitioning soldiers and spouses.

At the end of the day, participants sat down with Mr. David Roudybush, Deputy to the Garrison Commander, as he asked everyone “What is your next step?” Whether the response was to develop a skill-building program close to the installation, participate in the reoccurring job fairs and events, or even to connect with individuals they met that day, this experience was an inspiration to everyone in the room.

As for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, we will continue to partner with Ft. Campbell to create opportunities for soldiers in Middle Tennessee. This includes an upcoming Nashville Region Leadership Tour back to Ft. Campbell, and a new program, Operation Partnership, which will be a two-day program where soldiers and spouses will be able learn how to best position themselves for the civilian hiring process and network with employers in the area.
