Celebrating Small Business Month – Technology

The Nashville landscape is significantly dominated by small businesses with 60% of total businesses having less than 25 employees. After celebrating National Small Business Week (May 2-5) with the U.S. Small Business Administration, we are continuing to recognize the resiliency and tenacity of America’s entrepreneurs who are doing their part to power our nation’s historic economic comeback.

With over 75% of Chamber membership being small businesses, we are recognizing our small business members each week in May in Nashville’s leading industries, including music & entertainment, technology, professional services, and hospitality & tourism. This week, we are highlighting our small businesses members in tech.

The Nashville region has become a premier destination for innovation and creativity. Nashville is a strong technology hub, with over 30,000 tech jobs and over $8 billion impact on the Nashville region’s economy. This strength is seen in the enterprising and entrepreneurial spirit of Nashville which creates a space for ingenuity and innovation. While Google, Meta, Asurion and Amazon are some names that have made Nashville home, over half of the region’s technology companies are small businesses having less than 50 employees.

The technology sector is the leading edge of the region’s growth with thousands of job opportunities in fields from music and entertainment to health care to enterprise software development. Nashville’s unparalleled creative community – with a mashup of musicians, artists, writers, developers and designers – translates into a tech scene unlike any other in America.
