Lee Blank, Metro Nashville Market Executive, Regions Bank
Steve Grossman, CEO, Initiative for a Competitive Inner City
Diego Portillo Mazal, Inner City Capital Connections
Nashville-Area Business Owners and Civic Leaders
WHAT:
Regions Bank on Wednesday, June 14, will unveil plans for an innovative program designed to empower Nashville-area business owners with tuition-free training and resources to help them grow their companies, build long-term success, create additional jobs, and more.
Organizers describe it as a ‚”mini-MBA in a day.” It’s focused on reaching entrepreneurs in urban or economically underserved areas. And it has a clear track record of results in other cities.
Now, it’s Nashville’s turn.
The program is called Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC). Through ICCC, supported by RegionsBank, business owners receive customized coaching and financial education delivered by nationally recognized experts. Previous presenters include sought-after instructors from universities such as Dartmouth, Harvard, NYU and others.
ICCC is part of the nonprofit Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, which was founded by Harvard Business School Professor Dr. Michael Porter to strengthen urban areas through education and private-sector investment.
Regions is bringing the program to Nashville for the first time in ICCC’s history. On June 14, Regionswill meet with civic and business groups to formally unveil the concept of ICCC, qualifications for the program, and how interested businesses can apply in the weeks to come. The main ICCC event – where business owners will receive their coaching and training – is coming up in September.
Since ICCC’s inception in 2005, more than 5,800 businesses have participated in ICCC events across the country. Those businesses have since raised over $2.4 billion in capital and created over 26,000 jobs. To learn more, check out this video showing ICCC in action.
