Position Description / Responsibilities

We are looking for a strong leader who is an excellent communicator, strategic/forward thinker, visionary, and who can inspire team members to be engaged and achieve their best in performing Special Olympics Tennessee’s mission. The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for planning and directing all aspects of fundraising for Special Olympics Tennessee, including the supervision of a statewide fundraising team. The position directs fund raising and development operations for Special Olympics Tennessee; provides leadership for fund raising; develops strategies to grow and diversify revenue; develops new revenue streams and corporate support; responsible for managing major and individual donor and planned giving fundraising activities throughout the state.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years’ experience of increasing responsibility and leadership positions in fundraising and/or sales.
• Experience in developing strategic, mutually benefitting fundraising partnerships.
• Proven record of individually raising $300,000+, on an annual basis.
• Established success in supervision and mentoring skills in developing the capacities of the fundraising team.
• Experience with donor software to manage donor relationships, preferred.
• Event management experience.
• Experience in proposal and budget development, financial analysis, and corporate relations.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to travel statewide to meet with partners, donors and attend state events.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Effective time management skills.
• Some weekends, evenings, and overnights will be required.
