Position Description / Responsibilities


The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is responsible for
the audit of state and local governmental entities and participates in the
general financial and administrative management and oversight of state
government. The Office is led by Comptroller Justin P. Wilson, a
constitutional officer who is elected by the Tennessee General Assembly.

The Communications Team supports the overall employee culture, vision and
message of the Comptroller’s office to internal and external customers.
 The Team manages the creation, production, and distribution of digital
and print products, the office-wide content calendar,

marketing activities targeted to employees, the General Assembly, and the
media. The Communications Specialist will support this strategy by contributing
to the design, development and dissemination of high-quality materials and
messages, ensuring adherence to style and branding, supporting the office’s
website and social media platforms and contributing to the presentation of
office events.   

The Comptroller’s Office seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative communicator
who will provide administrative and technical support to the office’s
Communication Team.  The Communications Specialist will be responsible for
supporting existing internal and external communication efforts and
contributing to the development of new initiatives. To qualify for
consideration, an applicant should have graduated from an accredited college or
university with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related
field with at least one year of relevant experience working as a communications
professional.  Experience with social media dashboards, web analytics
(Google Analytics), website administrator tools (Adobe Experience Manager), and
Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.  

Position Requirements


·        General Communications Support: Writing, editing, and proofreading for a variety formats.

·        Publication Production and Distribution: Assisting with print production and distribution with in-house printing equipment.

·        Online Communications: Updating web content on a regular basis and monitors website and social media metrics.

·        Office Branding: Ensuring consistent format, tone, and style for communications.

·        Communications Planning and Administrative Support: Providing assistance with communications calendar, maintaining communication database, and supporting continuous improvement through data analysis.

A successful team member in this role should possess excellent writing and communication skills, be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task.  Social media technology and graphic design experience preferred. Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
