Position Description / Responsibilities

Position Summary

The director of Events and Sponsorships is responsible for the execution, implementation and management of Nashville Health Care Council’s corporate events. The director is responsible for managing a sponsorship platform and securing sponsoring organizations for Council, Fellows and Leadership Health Care (LHC) programs. Additionally, the director manages logistics for all activities related to the Council Fellows and Fellows alum initiative, including speaker management. Finally, director is responsible for managerial supervision of event coordinator.


• Provides managerial and developmental supervision of event coordinator, overseeing activities for event coordinator’s areas of responsibility
• Fully accountable for the successful execution and budget management of all Council and Council initiative events/activities (averaging approximately 70 events/year)
• Participates in budget planning for Council and LHC events
• Fully manages the execution of logistics for Council events and Fellows initiative activities; includes negotiating, researching, scheduling, and decision-making
• Manages multiple events simultaneously
• Works closely with Council team to ensure attendee experience is consistent with Council standards, and resolves issues that arise at programs representing the Council in a professional manner while ensuring excellent customer service
• Completes event follow-up including any needed venue/vendor communication, analysis of survey results making recommendations for future strategic direction, and other appropriate activities


• Responsible for development and management of event sponsorship platform for Council, Fellows and LHC
• Recruits sponsors for Council, Fellows and LHC programs and works closely with Council staff to ensure fulfillment of benefits to event sponsors

Position Requirements

Position Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience in event management
• Non-profit experience preferred
• Understanding of the health care industry, players, trends and issues preferred
• Proven ability to lead and manage teams
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of business and community leaders
• Must be a team player with enthusiasm, self-motivation and a positive attitude
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines
• Ability to think and operate strategically
• College degree required
• Knowledge of PC software, the Internet and network applications
