Position Description / Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to install, test, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment located in the field and Central Office. This may include Voice, Data, Transport, Outside Plant and Video equipment. This position works from a home office but job responsibilities are primarily working in the field. This position has an assigned territory, of TN/GA/AL, and will be on call 24/7 for any issues in and out of their assigned area.
Responsible 24/7 for provisioning, maintenance, installation, and repair of network equipment assigned territory. Visually inspect and drive assigned fiber routes and address any maintenance issues identified.
Locate and mark all iRis Networks’ underground cable. Work with ILECS to build a relationship and to learn about counts and fiber positions of the network.
Test, turn up, and troubleshoot new and existing services. (DS1, DS3, OC3-OC192, 10/100/1000 and 10GIGE services).
Perform general maintenance of all iRis Networks assets, including generators, huts, COLOs.
On-call 24/7 on a rotation basis for entire network.
Perform inventory control functions on an as needed basis. Test used equipment prior to installation to ensure it is working properly.
Supervise vendors and/or contractors in the installation or maintenance of new and existing inside or outside plant along the iRis Network as well as when conducting emergency restorations and installations.
