Position Description / Responsibilities

West Tennessee Regional Health Department in Jackson, Tennessee is seeking a Regional Medical Director to provide clinical care and administrative leadership for nineteen rural health departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide medical and public health guidance and to serve as a medical resource especially in the areas of nursing, communicable disease, surveillance, dental services and emergency preparedness. This position will provide direct supervision for the Nursing Directors, Pharmacist, Dental Director, Primary Care Director, Communicable Disease Director and the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree and be board certified or board eligible in Preventive Medicine or Family Practice.

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) has seven regional offices located across Tennessee; each of these are responsible for assisting county health departments within their jurisdiction.

TDH provides staff members for the 24 Health Professional Boards, three committees, two councils and four registries responsible for the licensures and regulation of more than three dozen health and medical professions within Tennessee.
