Position Description / Responsibilities
This Wildlife Manager 5 serves as the Chief of Biodiversity and directs the biodiversity and environmental services divisions of Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate biodiversity work for the agency. Maintain the State's endangered and at-risk species reports. Manage and implement biodiversity and conservation grants and other Federal funding.
- Preparing division budget with input from supervisors. Ensure all supplies and equipment for biodiversity staff and studies are ordered and available. Manage and monitor division budget and expenditures.
- Direct the work performed by the biodiversity division staff. Establish goals, priorities, and work ethics within the division. Oversee studies and projects for bird conservation; State wildlife grants; and threatened, endangered, and at-risk species.
- Performing public contact and liaison work with State and Federal agencies, non-governmental agencies, and other environmental groups.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural resources management field and experience equivalent to five or more years of full-time work managing and/or supervising biodiversity and/or conservation staff. Experience coordinating research and managing funding is highly desirable. Previous experience working with executive and senior level management as well as internal and external stakeholders is preferred.
