The Research Center of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce has created models to forecast the economic impact to the State of Tennessee and the joint Nashville and Clarksville MSAs as result of COVID-19. Our team produced three models projecting the impact of unemployment based on different restart dates; May 1, May 15 and June 1.

Music Row Music Study

This 2020 economic impact and contribution analysis study delves deeply into the role of historic Music Row in the success of Nashville's broader music industry. The study highlights how vital Music Row is to the entertainment ecosystem in the region, and provides a strong rationale for maintaining and growing this music related business district beyond its history as the center of country music to the geographic hub of where the Nashville Area's Music Industry comes to do business.

2013 Nashville Music Study

The Nashville Music Study, released in 2013, explored the impact and infrastructure in place in Nashville that makes it a hub for music activity in the country. The study finds that Nashville has a higher concentration of music-related industries far beyond that of other music hubs like New York or LA.

Nonprofits are essential to the fabric of our community, now more than ever. Quantifying their impact is a critical step to support nonprofits as part of the long-term strategic growth of our region. Explore the significant economic impact that nonprofits have on the 13-county Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area in the latest Nonprofit Economic Impact Study, a joint research venture of the Center for Nonprofit Management and the Research Center at Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce.

The 2020 Middle Tennessee Workforce Study highlights strengths and opportunities within the economic and labor force landscape in the 17 counties that make up the Nashville and Clarksville Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs).

Tech Workforce Study

2019 Nashville Tech Workforce Study

The growth of the tech sector, and the growth of technology jobs across industries, is part of the Nashville area’s success story. In fact, job growth in the region grew 25 percent from 2009 to 2018 while tech job growth was 47 percent. In 2018, the Nashville MSA was estimated to have 26,195 technology workers, with an average 2,173 tech job postings per month – indicating that demand outpaces the supply of tech workers. By 2028, the region projects overall job growth of 16 percent, while tech jobs are anticipated to grow by 22 percent. The upward trend in tech workforce growth is projected to continue, demonstrating the need to address the technology worker supply gap.

Leadership Study Mission Datascape

The Datascape report is designed as the data companion piece for our annual Leadership Study Mission. The purpose of the publication was to elicit a full understanding of the context behind the numbers and trends. As a standardized platform of information, delegates used the report as a basis for discussion and learning throughout the trip while they contextualized how to locally apply solutions gleaned from these other communities. Our role in this publication was not only to provide data as a basis for learning, but to also present the data in an illustrative pattern that is easily consumable by our target audience.

Employer Health and Wellness Initiatives

Employer Health and Wellness Initiatives in the Nashville Region: An Environmental Scan

This 2017 analysis of health and wellness programs currently being offered in the Nashville region builds on the results of the FTI study that examined and quantified the cost of chronic conditions on the Nashville economy. As the Nashville area contends with an aging workforce and tightening labor market, employer health programs have gained new attention. Increasing employer awareness and engagement in this area will allow business to play a more direct role in improving health outcomes for their own employees and the wider Nashville population.

This study relied on a variety of methods, including personal interviews with business leaders, directed group discussions, a survey of businesses and review of literature in the field.

Nashville & Clarksville Joint Metro Region Study

Joint Metro Region Study

The Joint Metro Region of Nashville-Clarksville comprises one of the most dynamic and growing areas in a multi-state area. The Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Clarksville Metropolitan Statistical Area together represent a vigorous, vibrant and unusual, complementary blend of assets and attributes. This research focuses on a number of those topics. Check back for yearly updates on how Clarksville and Nashville work together as a cohesive unit.

The 2013 study surveyed community and business leaders around the economic benefits of immigrant welcome to Nashville, which in recent years led the country in job growth. We concluded that Nashville’s efforts to welcome and incorporate a vibrant, growing immigrant population has helped create tangible economic gains across the city and across sectors.

Assessment of Nashville Region Health, Cost, Access and Quality

The 2013 comprehensive community-specific profile and assessment is intended as a starting point for stakeholders to provide an enhanced understanding of opportunities to promote and improve health and the quality of healthcare in the Nashville region. The pilot includes specific metrics that are critical for enabling stakeholders with the information to evaluate and ultimately track their community across five categories of population health, utilization, cost, quality, and access.
