The Nashville landscape is significantly dominated by small businesses with 60% of total businesses having less than 25 employees. After celebrating National Small Business Week (May 2-5) with the U.S. Small Business Administration, we are continuing to recognize the resiliency and tenacity of America’s entrepreneurs who are doing their part to power our nation’s historic economic comeback.
With over 75% of Chamber membership being small businesses, we are recognizing our small business members each week in May in Nashville’s leading industries, including music & entertainment, technology, professional services, and hospitality & tourism. This week, we are highlighting our small businesses members in professional services.
The professional services industry is the largest industry cluster in the region, comprising of almost 200,000 jobs. In 2021, there were over 13,000 businesses in this industry with about 9,000 being small businesses with less than 50 employees.
Professional services in the region range from sectors including retail to health care to manufacturing to financial services. The continued growth of these small businesses is driven by the regional talent pool, affordable operating costs and the ability to recruit key talent to the region. As Nashville continues to thrive, this evolution has become even more evident through the region’s creative talent and a wealth of entrepreneurial success.
