Meet Kelli Straub | Principal, Director of Interiors at STG Design
Tell us about yourself?
I have been in the commercial architecture and design industry for 12 years and I am currently the Director of Interiors at STG Design, in over 4 offices. I have lived in Nashville since 2007 and have been a proud witness and participant in the growth and popularity of this amazing city.
Tell us about your business/industry?
STG Design is a commercial architecture, interior design and master planning firm with (4) offices in Nashville, Austin, Houston and Phoenix. We mainly practice in the Corporate Commercial, Multi-Family, Hospitality, Industrial, Science & Technology and Higher Education areas. STG Design also has a technology arm for project Visualization, 3D modeling, Drone footage, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence.
What should we know about you?
I love to experience the Nashville culinary and theatre scenes. I also enjoy traveling, whether that is a big trip or a local road trip for the weekend.
How did you get to your current position?
I have worked at STG Design for many years and used my project and client management skills, as well as business development roles to reach my current position.
What value do you see in Chamber involvement?
The Nashville business leaders connections and staying abreast of all the Nashville news and happenings in the CRE world.
What do you enjoy most about being a leader?
Being able to participate in so many areas of the business. I am in involved in the business/financials, business development, people/team management and still have some project roles as well.
What makes Nashville a great place to do business?
I love this small, big city. Coming from New York and Washington DC previously, there is such a warmth and friendliness of running into people you know everywhere you go!
What advice would you give a student about entering the workforce?
Be willing to do the work, participate in person, and learn and absorb as much as possible at the start of your career. Do not put too much emphasis on what companies can do for you outside of providing the skillsets and knowledge for your career advancement.
What is your favorite leadership book?
Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara, which is a restaurant/service industry book, but so applicable to any industry with staff and clients!
