Objectives: The Director of Marketing and Communications orchestrates a comprehensive strategy to drive earned revenue and audience expansion for TPAC’s presentations, seamlessly integrating advertising, promotions, sales, public relations, and data analytics. This role provides pivotal support to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications to optimize ambitious income growth, notably the expansion of Broadway at TPAC to a two-week market and the cultivation of audiences for wide-ranging programming, including dance, dramatic theatre, and family fare. The Director fosters a data-driven culture, leverages multi-channel strategies, and cultivates a highly collaborative team dynamic to achieve departmental excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Marketing and Revenue Generation:
- Oversee day-to-day marketing operations, including campaign budgeting, media planning, creative direction, copywriting, digital and social media, group sales, and promotions.
- Establish and sustain relationships with producers’ and agents’ representatives, ensuring alignment and approvals on campaign advertising, budgets, timelines, and settlements.
- Foster a data-driven culture, utilizing analytics to inform strategy, optimize campaigns, and demonstrate a meaningful return on investment.
- Forge strategic alliances with external entities, community partners, and vendors to amplify impactful and purposeful marketing partnerships.
- Meticulously define audience segmentation and data-infused list selection for direct mail campaigns to support season and single ticket sales.
- Work with TPAC’s Graphic Design and external vendors to create and deliver compelling campaign assets, marketing collateral, and program-related signage.
Communications:
- Champion and implement an integrated multi-channel communication and public relations strategy to fortify TPAC’s brand and stimulate ticket sales.
- Provide helpful support for two senior managers who are responsible for these communications activities: integrating public relations strategies for programming, forging alliances with touring press representatives to maximize earned media, crafting press releases, and coordinating media logistics, such as interview and appearance requests for touring artists to support in-town earned media.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Supervise four direct reports, including two senior managers of communications, group sales and marketing analytics manager, and a marketing manager.
- Inspire a collaborative work environment that motivates staff and cultivates productive relationships within the marketing and communications team and throughout the organization.
Department Operations and Financial Management:
- Lead and supervise staff who maintain the department budget, prepare sales analytics, and execute accurate show settlements, ensuring fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
- Work with others throughout the organization to implement and exemplify policies as part of TPAC’s commitment to an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Explore potential synergies between TPAC’s education and community engagement initiatives with ticketed performances.
- Project manage and strategize TPAC’s education initiatives to align with TPAC’s mission and brand promise while increasing participation.
- Support internal fundraising team on securing corporate sponsorships, strategically leveraging marketing benefits.
